Australia: fund sex workers!

Together with the Global Network of Sex Work Projects, the Asia Pacific Network of Sex Work Projects, and Scarlet Alliance, we submitted this proposal to the Treasury of Australia for consideration in its 2026-2027 budget process. This submission calls for an investment of $5 million over 4 years for a sex worker-led, community-centred program addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and HIV prevention across multiple countries in the Indo-Pacific region, to align with Australia’s International Gender Equality Strategy, strengthen regional health security, and demonstrate leadership as other international donors withdraw.
